Here are some things to keep in mind when planning your trip.
- Begin talking to your child about the trip. Where you are going, what you will do, who you will see, how are you going to get there and why they will like it.
- Explain what they will experience such as waiting to board, unfamiliar noises on the plane, security lines and tiny restrooms on the planes. Many airports offer “trial runs” for an ASD child. I can help arrange this for you and your child a few days prior your departure.
- Book your trip early to get a room location that best suits your family.
- Purchase preferred seating to be in the front of the plane or near restrooms.
